Monsters University to Receive Hollywood Animation Award

Let the award season commence! Yesterday, it was announced that Monsters University will be the recipient of the Hollywood Animation Award at the 17th annual, Hollywood Film Awards (HFA). Carlos De Abreu, the HFA founder, and executive producer noted that Monsters University was selected as the recipient due to the fact that, “Once again, the animation and storytelling of ‘Monsters University’ reflects Pixar creativity and greatness“.

The award will be received by none other than Director, Dan Scanlon, and Producer, Kori Rae at the October 21 event which will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Of course, a big congratulations are in order to Dan, Kori, and the entire Monsters University crew for their extremely hard work and technological advances that the film brought forth. Here’s to hoping that this will kick off an amazing award season for the hilarious and beautifully rendered film.

Previously Pixar has also won the Hollywood Animation Award for:

  • Toy Story 3 (2010)
  • WALL-E (2008)
  • Rataouille (2007)
  • Cars (2006)
  • Finding Nemo (2003)

The October 21 HFA is yet another reason we’re calling October, Pixtober. Between the release of Monsters University on digital release (October 8) and Blu Ray (October 29), we also have the Toy Story of Terror! special (October 16), Cars Blu Ray re-release in 3D and finally the release of the Toy Story in Space Disney Infinity playset (October 22…with Woody releasing October 1).
