The folks over at The Pixar Times recently received information regarding a special Monsters University gala preview to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). What makes this event so special? Not only does this support the JDRF’s mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, but it’s also near-and-dear to the Lasseter family’s heart because their son, Sam, has type 1 diabetes himself. Attendees of the event will be able to enter Pixar Animation Studios, mingle with many Pixar employees, rub elbows with celebrities, bid on Pixar-related artwork, as well as view Monsters University six days prior to its theatrical release.

Dear Friends: Please join us on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Pixar Animation Studios for the Gala Preview of the latest Disney•Pixar film, Monsters University. The net proceeds from this event will benefit JDRF.
JDRF is very important to us as our son Sam has been living with type 1 diabetes for more than twelve years. Each day he is faced with the responsibility of managing his blood glucose levels with at least ten finger sticks. As parents we will do anything to ensure that Sam can live a strong and healthy life, which is why we continue to partner with JDRF to find a cure.
We invite you to join the race to find a cure for all people afflicted by diabetes. Attendees to the Gala Preview will enjoy an elegant black tie dinner party, superb silent and live auctions, dessert reception and an exclusive Pixar Animations Studios campus experience.
