Shanghai Disneyland opened its gates on June 16, 2016 and has been astonishing guests with immersive new ride technology and interactive parades - yet, there was an unknown expansion already in the works. The Disney Parks Blog shared that, Bob Iger, chairman and chief executive office of The Walt Disney Company, along with Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, and Fan Xiping, chairman of Shanghai Shendi Group, recently celebrated the breaking ground of Toy Story Land.
Set to open in 2018, the Toy Story Land expansion will include three attractions and a themed character meet-and-greet area. The popularity of the Toy Story franchise in China made the decision to expand the resort a no-brainer as guests can't get enough of their beloved Buzz, Woody and gang. In fact, Shanghai Disneyland has an entire resort hotel dedicated to Toy Story. As Pixar fans learn of this exciting news abroad - many are left wondering when we will hear additional details on the Toy Story Land expansion coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios at The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida - could it be at the 2017 D23 Expo or will it be discussed on the upcoming shareholders call? Be sure to share your thoughts on the expansions with other Pixar fans in the Pixar Post Forum.
