Contest - Exclusive Monsters University Dream Journal signed by Dan Scanlon

Rendition of the dream journal that T.J. created

UPDATED - The contest is now closed, the winner of the contest was Christian C.! Congratulations, Christian!

When Julie attended the Monsters University Press Event in April, she was able to enjoy a 40-minute screening of the film. During the movie, she was instantly drawn to the hilarious scene where Art gives Mike and Sulley a Dream Journal when they arrive at the Oozma Kappa house. The scene only lasts mere seconds, but to her, it was so funny that she was adamant that we had to make a replica dream journal inspired by that scene.

Screen shot from Monsters University showing the journal

Although, the dream journal itself was conceptualized by Julie, I carried out the arduous task as I had to hand-draw the entire notebook from glancing at a screenshot from the Monsters University trailer. Not only was the notebook itself completely customized (over many hours to try and get as many details accurate as possible) but the rainbow sticker located in the lower left corner had to be hand-drawn as well! The notebooks were then professionally printed (along with the rainbow stickers) so it would be a legitimate, high-quality journal.

On May 29, we were lucky enough to attend our second (complete) advanced screening of Monsters University - but this time the event was being attended by none other than Director, Dan Scanlon. The Michigan native decided to bring his charity screening to the Detroit area to visit with guests as well as support some amazing causes. We'll be writing up an entire post soon with all the details from the event - along with details of the custom Robert Kondo art piece we won at the silent auction (link will be posted here)!

After the screening wrapped, we were able to chat with Dan again (we were able to chat prior to the event as well) and this time we presented him with the custom version of the journal that we made for him and Kori Rae (Producer) - these version included their names in gold puffy paint (just like in the movie).

After giving Dan his copy, he was also gracious enough to autograph a personalized version for Julie and I...but he also autographed an extra journal for us to give away on our site! Yes, you can win the custom dream journal that Dan signed - All you have to do to enter our contest is fill out the form below - please be sure to read all of the rules and qualifications prior to entering.

The winner will be announced by first name and last initial on our website no later than June 24, 2013 11:59 PM EST.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments in regards to our contest and we wish you luck. Also, let us know what you think of the dream journal and if you're excited to potentially win this journal!

Additionally, It's not too late to support these great charities from the Monsters University advanced screening - each of these charities are dear to Dan's heart as they have all enriched his (or his families) lives. Please consider supporting - any amount is welcomed.

    1. Hello - unfortunately we have chosen to only offer this contest to our readers in the 48 contiguous United States. We know this is a bummer, but since we're paying the shipping costs and handling the process, we're trying to find an avenue that keeps our costs as reasonable as possible. We would also be concerned with the condition of the item since going through multiple countries and customs is always more strenuous on packages. With this being a signed piece, we really want to ensure it gets to there safely! We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope you understand our concern! :) Pixar Post - T.J.

  5. I understand, thank you for your comment back. If it is okay or even possible, maybe you could sell dream journals on ebay so I could maybe be able to buy one! ( and anyone else who is unable to get one) They are so cool and it would be awesome if I could get something signed one day! Thank you again and good luck to all the people who are entering this amazing contest! I am so glad that you guys share your experience with everyone and allow them to be part of this amazing opportunity! :)
